Portland, Oregon is home to a zillion fantastic coffee shops. Portlanders in general love enjoying a morning coffee and pastry. My favorite place to do this is at a pair of shops at SW Stark and 10th in downtown Portland. Stumptown Coffee Roasters is known as one of the greats on the Portland coffee scene. The people who work there are helpful, friendly coffee-loving folk. One of Stumptown’s smallest shops can be found on Stark, right next to Kenny & Zuke’s Jewish Deli.

The doors of the shops are about 15 feet apart making them a great pairing for an on-the-go breakfast. I go first to Stumptown to pick up a creamy, nutty cappuccino and then swing into the deli counter at Kenny and Zuke’s for a garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese. Divine. Alone, each shop is special. Together, they’re awesome.
