Portland is a coffee town.  There are boutique coffee houses all over.  Today, Serene walked into one with a funny sign in the window.

Temporary Coffee

Yup, it’s pretty temporary.  A branch of Water Avenue Coffee, Temporary Coffee has opened up on Water Ave in a temporary spot while its new location, the American Barista & Coffee School, is built.  The idea of “coffee college” is pretty great, but here’s what makes it awesome:

Today, when Serene went in to get a soy, chai latte, she didn’t notice the “cash only” sign until the barista was on his way to the machine.  When she apologized and told him not to make the drink, because she didn’t have cash, he waived her off.  “I’ll make it for you anyway.”

What?  Who does that.  Of course, Serene told him she’d bring him cash next time she’s there, but still.  That’s pretty awesome.  So go see these guys – and bring some cash.
