Pele’s Glass Creations

One of Pele's Glass Creations

At the Hilo, Hawaii farmers market, I ran across a booth with a distinctly different product.  A display of beautiful glass panels, drizzled in red or blue, captured the fire and water of the island.  I chatted with the owner of Pele’s Glass Creations, David Thomas, who was very proud of the process he has developed for creating the beautiful pieces.

The strands of glass that he uses to create his one-of-a-kind pieces are dichoric, making the colors change with the day’s changing light.  The pieces are handmade and fired in David’s kiln, numbered and signed, and yes, affordable.  That makes them awesome.
