If I told you very soon you’ll be able to make the shape of a rectangle with your fingers and capture a photograph of whatever is inside, would you believe me? What if I said you’ll be able to make a phone call using your hand? Or by drawing a circle on your wrist with your finger you’ll be able to tell the time?
I wouldn’t believe me either. But it’s true, thanks to a young genius named Pranav.
Pranav Mistry, an MIT student from India, is the inventor of SixthSense, a wearable device that enables new interactions between the real world and the world of data using any surface—your hand, a wall, a post-it note…
It’s too fantastical for me to even explain. You really must see this invention, and the young genius behind it, for yourself.
Among his list of awards, Pranav won a 2009 TR35 award; which recognizes 35 outstanding innovators under the age of 35 by Technology Review. Pranav has been called “one of the two or three, best inventors in the world right now” by Chris Anderson of TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design).
