The Hydro Pack by Hydration Technology Innovations (HTI) is totally awesome. Flat packets (easy to store, pack and ship) can be placed on virtually any source of ground water. Working through osmosis, within a couple of hours water is pulled in through the filtration system and turned into 12 ounces of flavored, clean drinking water that can combat dysentery.
According to a news story on KGW, suitcases full have been sent to Haiti to help provide clean water in the aftermath of the earthquake.
